Peace of Mind is All I Want...

Finn's 4 month appointment was on Monday. He's 19 pounds and 6 ounces, 25 1/2 inches tall and his head is 43 cm. He's in the 75% for height and head size, off the charts for his weight. He's so chill. Dude is almost always a happy guy, so long as someone is in the room with him.

His past couple of nights have kind of rocky (for him). He's congested and has a little cough, much like his mama. Finn has a tendency to hog the whole bed (did you see how big he is??) so my back has been aching like crazy. Not sure what we're going to do about that. He's found his voice is chattering all.of.the.time. It's fantastic.

Speaking of fantastic, Audrey is cracking me up lately. She's so freaking smart! We've been playing I Spy lately and she's gone from saying "I spy with my little eye...a mama!" to "I spy with my little eye someone with a blue shirt". I don't know if that's officially a big deal but it is to me. She sings all the time and has recently decided that she can't go to sleep without the Beatles playing. I'm down with that.

We're heading to Miami for Easter then a long weekend in Galveston. It'll be nice to be somewhere on vacation that isn't Pittsburgh or Florida - I'm really looking forward to that trip. It'll be our first long car ride so I'm a little nervous about that. Luckiliy we're rocking in the new minivan so at least everyone will be comfy.

Here's a few pictures from January:

Alfie Kohn may not approve but my heart sure does!

Finn was chilling in his bucket seat with a toy attached to the handle. Audrey was watching him play and being her usual silly self. Finn managed to actually grab the toy. Audrey burst into applause and said "Good job! You did it, Finn! I'm proud of you!"

I melted into a puddle.

This is the stuff dreams are made of. I harbor no illusions that it will always be this sweet between the two of them but for now, it's wonderful. And to think I was worried.

No real news

We're maintaining status quo around these parts. Waiting for the sweet spot where the weather is the perfect balance between a cold, rainy winter and the steamy hot summer.

I've been back to work for about 3 weeks now and it's fine. I like the paycheck but am not a fan of having to concentrate on things other than my family. I do adore visiting with Finn at lunch. He was a little fussy when I got there today but he fell asleep in my arms after nursing. I nuzzled his little head for a while and tried to soak in the moment.

We've been in a good routine with getting together with friends on Mondays and Fridays. Audrey has been keeping me on my toes. She's starting to understand the concept of tomorrow and days of the week (though she keeps telling me that her birthday is "on Saturday" which cracks me up). She knows we go to open gym on Fridays - that is the highlight of her week for sure. She's been telling me that "on Friday" she's going to "run at the gym with bare piggies" and "jump in foam". It's so stinking sweet. She told me that she wanted to go to a restaurant (ressrant) while we were driving to school/work this morning. She's such an opinionated little person these days. It's awe inspiring.
