On the road again

Audrey and I are heading back for another visit with Nana and the rest of the family. Nana is having her hip replaced on Friday - Audrey and I are flying in to help her get her house rearranged in easier configuration and to give her some snuggle time with the baby. What could be better then that?

This will be Audrey's second trip via airplane. We flew the first time when she was 6 weeks and it was as easy as can be. Hopefully this time is just as smooth! She's MUCH more active now and is distracted (from nursing) much easier so it'll be interesting if nothing else.

If I inadvertently flash anyone at DFW, ORD or on any airplane sorry about that :-)

The best day ever? WTF, Wordpress?!

http://ourowncreation.wordpress.com/2008/05/22/help-2/#comments

Allison's post about Wordpress's designated "Best Day Ever" touched me. Please, if you can take a moment to click over to her blog, read what's going on and then go back for a visit on 5/29.

As usual, Mel is working her magic to spread this plea throughout the interwebs. Let's all lend a hand.

4 months old!

Audrey turned four months yesterday. She had a pediatrician appointment in the morning where we learned that she's doubled her birth weight (she's 17lbs 8 oz), she's 24 3/4 in. and her head is 42cm around. As we were waiting for the doctor we did some tummy time on the table. By the time the doctor made it into the room my kid had completely ripped the paper and was stuffing it into her mouth. She's such a little monkey.

And a very brave girl! She got one shot and barely made a peep. She conked out in the car on our way home and had a nice long nap. Mama is very jealous.

Mollie from http://www.photographyinbloom.blogspot.com/ came over to take some pictures. We had such fun!! She posted a sneek peak last night and I'm DYING to see the rest. Some of my favorites:

A Breakthrough?

Well, hopefully.

For the past two days Miss Audrey has actually taken a bottle at school. She took 2 oz in the morning on Tuesday and 2 oz in the afternoon yesterday. Hopefully this wasn't a fluke and she's realized that she doesn't always have to wait for Mama to get there. When I went over to feed her at lunch she hadn't taken a bottle yet today. In fact, the other breastfed baby refused his bottle too - maybe they're in cahoots with one another?

Do you remember how before you got married everyone said the first year of marriage is the hardest? I beg to differ. The first year of marriage was fine - it's the first year of having a baby that sucks. I feel like I'm constantly angry with my husband and I hate it. I wish he could read my mind because sometimes *I* don't even know what I want or what he can help with. It's frustrating for both of us.

I feel like I have so much responsibility on my shoulders with the baby and he just doesn't get it. Every night I have to wash out her bottles, all of the crap for my breastpump and get all of out bags packed for the next day. I usually go to bed around 9:30 so I can watch a little TV in bed, feed her one more time and then pump if I have to. Audrey has been getting up every 2 - 3 hours to eat since her bottle strike so I'm not getting the best night's sleep. Luckily we're cosleeping but it still isn't very restful. I lucked out last night with five continous hours - woohoo!

Audrey and I are taking Tuesday off. She has to go to the pediatrician for her 4 month check and a couple of vaccinations (we're declining and delaying the same ones as her 2 month appt). We may catch a movie in the afternoon or have some nursing photos taken if the photographer is available. I'm really looking forward to a day of just being a mom!

Happy Anniversary!

One year ago today I peed on a stick and got a BFP. It was unbelievable. Extraordinary. Unfathomable.

I had already gotten a negative beta that cycle. And my temperature dropped. And I started to spot. For pete's sake, the IUI was cancelled that cycle. And I didn't have a trigger shot. Everyone knows you don't get pregnant from having actual SEX!

But I did. Somehow.

And now I have the loveliest baby I've ever known. She makes all of the infertility crap worth it.

In one hour I will hold her in my arms and tell her all about it.

Knocked down

The kiddo and I were knocked down by a cold over the weekend. I picked her up from school on Friday and she was a little snotty - it got bad enough on Saturday that I took her in to the pediatrician. Luckily her ears aren't infected or anything, it's just baby's first cold.

And of course, she passed along her illness to me. Awesome. I got hit so hard that the whole family (even Dad) stayed home on Monday and I went to the doctor. Since I'm nursing there's not much I can take without risking a decrease in my supply but I did get a sample of some crazy nasal spray which seems to be doing the trick. Once I conquered my nasal spray fear :-P

We're all on the mend now. Audrey is back to school and I'm back to work. Sigh.

At least it's Wednesday.

I will survive!

At first I was afraid - I was petrified...

Well, it's Friday and almost time to pick up the baby and head home! We've survived our first 2 days and it hasn't been nearly as bad as anticipated.

A couple of things:

* Audrey will not take a bottle at "school". Luckily I work across the street and can run over and nurse her at lunch. We're going to practice more over the weekend and give it until the end of next week before adjusting my lunch hour to accommodate an extra trip over there everyday. Cross your fingers for us!

* My husband has been out of town all week for work. While it has been especially craptacular getting everything together for Audrey and I to go to work/school I'm very proud of myself for handling it. But that doesn't mean I don't look forward to his help washing pump parts and bottles next week.

* Pumping at work S.U.C.K.S. Hard. Especially when the only place for me to pump is in the bathroom. I've ordered a fancy new pump that I hope arrives early next week - that should help! Although if my kid is still refusing the bottle is there really a point :-P

I'm freaking exhausted. I'm looking forward to crawling into bed and cuddling with my little one tonight. Dad gets home at 9 PM tomorrow - I'm glad to have Crazy Face to myself for a while tomorrow before Daddy gets home and snatches her from me.

Happy weekend everyone!
